  • Before a first call

What happens on the free call?

We talk for twenty minutes about where things stand and what you’re hoping for. If I’m not the right person for it, I’ll say so and point you to someone who is.

Will you find me a job?

No, and I’d be wary of anyone who says they will. I help you work out what you want next, tell your story well and get ready for the conversations.

    Can my employer pay?

Often, yes. Plenty of workplaces have a training budget, and some severance packages include coaching. I’ll send whatever paperwork they need.

Do you work with people outside Calgary?

Yes, by video, anywhere in Canada. I keep Tuesday and Thursday evenings for people who are still at their old job.

  • Everyone asks what a session costs

List your sessions and packages with how long each one runs and a price in your own words, or “Ask me”. One Book button goes to the booking page you already use.

  • The same questions come before every first call

Write them down once, like whether you work by video or what a first session covers. Each answer opens with a tap, and search engines can read them too.

  • Someone met me at a talk and lost my card

A contact card saves your name, number and email to their phone with one tap, so they can find you when they’re ready.

Bookings and payments stay with the tools you already use.

A career coach, a supper planner and a consultant for the trades.

None of the three are real. Anneke helps people in Calgary change careers, Wren plans weeknight suppers with families in Moncton, and Gord helps trades companies in Winnipeg price their jobs. All three are made up, so take whatever helps.

About booking, guides and your background.

We keep improving your page, free.

When we improve how search engines and AI answer engines read pages, yours gets the change by itself.

What that covers

When we improve how search engines and AI answer engines read pages, yours gets the change by itself.

  • Facts search engines can read. Your page carries structured data: who you are, where you are, your hours and dates, and your links, in the terms search engines and AI answer engines read. It’s built from what’s on your page and nothing else, and when those terms change, we update every page.
  • Events, menus and prices. Dates, menus, price lists, questions and releases are each described the way search engines expect them, and an event carries its venue and ticket link when you’ve given them.
  • Found when it changes. Once your page is in search, it’s in our sitemap with the date it last changed, and we tell the search engines that use IndexNow when it changes or first comes into search.

Nobody can promise a place in search results or a mention in an AI answer, so we don’t. What we can do is make your page easy to read and accurate, and keep it that way.

Can clients pay for a program through my page?
No, because money never moves on a Portage page. You can list your sessions and packages with prices in your own words, and the Book button goes to the booking or payment page you already use.
Can I give away a free guide without collecting emails?
Yes. Upload it as a PDF and anyone can download it from your page, with its size beside the title. If you’d like people to join your list too, put a sign-up beside it and leave that up to them.
Will people who search for my name find my page?
Your page is real text that search engines can read: your name, what you help with, where you work and the answers to your questions. Nobody can promise where it shows up, but someone who searches your name after meeting you has a page to find.
I’m a life coach or a nutrition coach. Does it suit me?
Yes. The blocks are the same on every page, free. Say in your own words what you help with, and use your questions to say what you don’t do, like medical advice, so nobody books expecting it.
Is it really free?
Yes. Every page feature is free for everyone. You only pay if you want an identity or business check, Unmarked to take the Portage credit off a business page, your page on a domain you already own, custom work from the studio, or, if you look after more than 5 clients’ pages, the Agency plan. One organisation running 10 or more pages of its own can choose Enterprise. None of those adds a feature. Every free page has a small Made with Portage line at the bottom, ours included, and your page never comes down because you didn’t buy something.

Get your page up before your next opening.

Put it in your bio and at the bottom of your emails.

Use letters, numbers, hyphens or underscores. You can change it later.
