Portage for sports teams

Here’s when we play next, and how the last one went.

Put your next game at the top of your page, with a countdown during game week and directions to the rink. Add the score after each game and keep your league standings there too.

We play Sunday and Thursday nights. It’s non-contact, and most of us are in it for the beers after.

On a real page this opens whatever link you add

Your own page can link to anything with a web address.

Make one like this

Tap the address to open Mill Creek Muskrats’ page and try it.

It works for clubs, school and rec teams, beer leagues and esports rosters.

Ready before the next puck drop.

  1. Add your next games.

Or paste your league calendar’s link and they come in.

  2. Post scores from the bench.

Two numbers and Post. Nothing else goes live with it.

  3. Drop it in the parents’ chat.

The same link all season, always showing the next game.

The questions every parent texts the coach.

No one knows when our next game is

Your next game sits at the top with the opponent, the venue and the start time, counting down in game week. On the day, the page says Game day.

We want the standings on there too

Add a standings table with your league’s own columns. Your team is highlighted, with the date you last updated it.

Four moreLast week’s score is lost in a group chat · Our schedule already lives in a league app · Parents need directions to the rink · Families want the games in their calendar
  • Last week’s score is lost in a group chat

Post the final score from the bench in two taps. It moves into Results, and old results drop off after four months.

  • Our schedule already lives in a league app

Paste your team calendar’s link and the games show up on your page. Practices and the year-end party stay off.

  • Parents need directions to the rink

Every venue gets directions in Apple Maps, Google Maps and OpenStreetMap. Postponed games stay on the list, clearly marked.

  • Families want the games in their calendar

Anyone can add your games to their calendar from your page, and a moved or cancelled game changes there too.

Tell the editor your page is about a team, and search engines are told about every upcoming game, with both teams, the start time and the venue. Everything here is free on every Portage page.

How these work, step by step: a schedule in every time zone.

Team pages, from a beer league to a youth club.

We made all three up. Each one puts the next game at the top, with recent scores and directions to every venue under it.We made all three up. Start from any of them.

What coaches and parents ask.

Can it read our schedule from our league or team app?
If your league site or team app gives you a calendar link (an .ics or webcal address, usually under Subscribe or Export), paste it into the games and scores block. Portage checks it about once an hour and lists anything with an opponent as a game, alongside any you type in yourself. Practices and everything else stay off the page.
Is it safe to use for a youth team?
The games and standings blocks never ask for a player’s name or photo, and the editor tells you so right beside them. A youth team’s page can be just the schedule, directions to each venue and a way to reach the coach, with nothing about any kid on it.
Will game times be right for fans somewhere else?
Yes. A game at a rink or a field shows in your team’s local time, and the page says which time zone that is, so anyone coming from out of town knows when to be there. A game with no venue, like an online match, shows in each person’s own time zone.
Is it really free? What’s the catch?
No catch. Every feature is free for everyone. You only pay if you want an identity or business check, Unmarked to take the Portage credit off a business page, room to look after more than ten clients’ pages from one account, or custom work from the studio. None of those adds a feature. Every free page has a small Made with Portage line at the bottom, ours included, and your page never comes down because you didn’t buy something.

Make your next game easy to find.

Put your link on the sponsor’s banner and the league site, and drop it in the parents’ group chat.

Use letters, numbers, hyphens or underscores. You can change it later.
