What’s new

What’s new on Portage.

What changed lately, newest first. Most of it reaches every page by itself, with nothing for its owner to do.

Nobody can promise a place in search results or a mention in an AI answer, so we don’t. What we can do is make your page easy to read and accurate, and keep it that way.

The changes, by day

  • Find your own domain from the editor

Your own domain, in the editor, suggests names from your handle and your page’s name, says whether each looks free and what it costs at Dynadot for the first year and after, then helps you connect the one you buy. Portage may earn a referral fee when you buy through it.

    Where it is

  • The shop’s refund policy, in plainer words

The same promises, said more plainly: no swap for a change of mind or a wrong size once a piece is being made, and a replacement or a refund at no cost for damage, a misprint, a fault or the wrong piece.

    Where it is

  • Page extras by card in three countries

The paid extras can be paid for by card in Canada, the United States and Australia, each in its own currency.

    Where it is

  • The shop ships to Australia

The Portage shop is open to Australia, with prices in Australian dollars.

    Where it is

  • Zip hoodies in the shop

The designs come as a zip hoodie, with the drawing across the whole back and the logo and portage.camp on the chest, beside the heavyweight hoodie, the crewneck and the tees.

    Where it is

  • Every page

New pages go into search by themselves once they’re ready: a confirmed email, a name, a line and two links, and three days. You can still turn it off.

  • Every page

The night a page comes into search, we tell the search engines that use IndexNow, rather than waiting for them to find it.

  • Every page

Events on a page can carry their venue’s address and their ticket links, which Google asks for before it lists an event.

  • Every page

A page’s data says when it was first made and which handle is its own, as Google’s guidance for profile pages suggests.

  • Every page

A link to your own website counts with search engines once your website links back to your page.

  • Every page

Campaign tags come out of a page’s data, so each of your links reads as one address to a search engine.

  • Every page

Pages do less work on a phone while they’re open, so they stay smooth inside apps.

  • Every page

Menus, price lists, questions and music releases are described in the terms search engines use for each.

  • Every page

AI companies’ training crawlers are asked to stay off every page and upload, while search engines and AI answer engines can still read pages that are in search.
