Music and video players

A music player on your link in bio, so people can listen without leaving.

Paste a link to a song, a mix or a video and it turns into a player on your page. Your cover sits there looking like part of the page until someone presses play.

Start a page with a playerEvery feature

Free on every Portage page. Nothing to upgrade to.

Ingrid Solheim, an example fiddler. Two recordings sit in one player row. Open the page

A mix, a video and a band’s first two songs.

Players on three example pages, each in its page’s own colours, drawn small, medium or large.

  • A two-hour DJ mix, from Night Ferry
  • A painter’s newest video, from Holt Paints Things
  • A band’s two songs, side by side, from Maple & Rust

What a player does.

  • Twelve services

YouTube, Spotify, Apple Music, SoundCloud, Bandcamp, Mixcloud, Audiomack, Deezer, TikTok, Vimeo, Twitch and Kick. Paste the link you’d share anyway and the editor works out the rest.

  • Quiet until pressed

Until someone presses play, there’s only your cover. No request goes to the service, so nothing from it can set a cookie or slow your page down.

  • A whole set in one row

Put up to twelve players in one row people swipe through. Starting one stops the one before, so two songs never play over each other.

  • Your newest video, by itself

Point a YouTube player at your channel instead of one video, and it shows your newest upload every time you post.

Adding a player.

Start a page with a player

  1. Add a Player row.

It’s in the block picker. Paste a link from any of the twelve services.

  2. Add more if you like.

Paste another link into the same row for a set people swipe through, up to twelve.

  3. Pick a size and publish.

Small is a slim row with a thumbnail. Medium and large give the cover more room.

Where a player stops.

  • The sound and video come from the service, so a track that’s private, removed or blocked in a listener’s country won’t play here either.
  • Only those twelve services. For anywhere else, like Tidal or Amazon Music, a plain link does the job, or a release card with a Listen button.
  • We don’t host audio or video files. Files on Portage are PDFs.

Questions about players.

Do players slow down my page?
No. Until someone presses play, a player is only a picture we keep ourselves, so your page opens as fast with five players as with none.
Does a player add cookies to my page?
Not before someone presses play, because nothing from the service has loaded. YouTube players use YouTube’s privacy-enhanced address, and Vimeo is asked not to track.
Can I show my newest YouTube video automatically?
Yes. Paste your channel instead of a video and the player shows your latest upload, read from your channel each time the page refreshes.
How many players can I have?
As many Player rows as you like, with up to twelve players in each one.

Let them hear it first.

Paste your newest track or video, and it plays right on your page.
