What Portage promises
What we promise if something goes wrong.
A Portage page is only held or taken down for reasons written here, and a person, not a bot, reads every hold and every appeal and replies within three business days. You can export your page while it’s held, nothing renews by itself, and no card is kept on file.
Why a page might be held or taken down
From the smallest step to the largest. Most problems never get past the first.
A report, on its own, takes nothing down
Anyone can report a page, and a person reads every report. For most problems we write to the owner saying exactly which link or picture and why, and give them three days to fix it with the page up. A link reported once as a scam is handled the same way until it’s been confirmed.
One link can be switched off
When Google’s Web Risk list names an address, or a person here has checked it and found phishing or malware, that one link goes off on every page that has it. The rest of the page stays up and keeps its place in search.
One thing can be hidden
A photo, drawing or song reported by whoever owns it can be hidden on its own, with the rest of the page up. So can intimate pictures shared without consent, which come off within 48 hours of the report.
A page can be held for a person to look
Only for things an ordinary page doesn’t do by accident: asking visitors for a password, a sign-in code, a wallet’s recovery phrase or gift card codes, promising to send back more crypto than you send, a link dressed up as a company’s sign-in page, a name dressed up as a company’s support desk or as Portage, a brand-new page whose own links all go to known phishing or malware addresses, or many brand-new pages pushing the same unknown site. A public page can be held too, if a publish adds one of these.
A page can be paused
A person can pause a page while they work something out. If yours is paused and you don’t know why, write to hello@cadenic.studio and a person will tell you.
A page can be taken down
Straight away for anything sexual involving someone under 18, intimate pictures shared without consent, offering in-person sexual services, or impersonation once it’s clear. Also a page made to scam people, a page whose owner doesn’t fix a problem within the three days, and accounts that keep using other people’s work.
Being an 18+ creator, linking to OnlyFans or Fansly, running an ordinary business, selling gift cards, taking deposits or using a short link never puts a page in that queue.
What you’re told, and when
While your page is held
A note in your editor says it’s held, that it matched what scam pages often do, and how to write to a person. It doesn’t name the rule while the page waits, because that would teach a script how to step round it. If anything needs changing, we tell you exactly what.
When the look is done
You get an email either way: your page is public, or it has been taken down, with the reason in the email.
When one link or picture is the problem
We tell you which one and why. A link switched off as harmful is named in an email and beside its row in your editor. Anything else hidden has its reason beside it in your editor.
When a page comes down
We tell you why, in writing. Your editor also says the page can’t be published, and where to write if you think that’s a mistake.
A person reads it, and replies
A person, not a bot, reads every hold and every appeal, and replies within three business days. That’s the latest. We try to look at a held page within one business day and to answer the rest within two.
How to appeal
Reply to the email we sent you, or write to hello@cadenic.studio, and say which page. The note on a held page has a link that starts the email for you. There’s no form to fill in and no number to quote.
What a rule can do by itself
Two things happen before anyone has looked: a page that meets a rule above is held, and a link on Google’s Web Risk list is switched off. Each one waits for a person after that.
What only a person can do
Lift a hold, take a page down, put one back and answer an appeal. No program does any of these, and no chatbot stands between you and the person who decides.
If we got it wrong
A page that was held by mistake goes public as you made it, and it’s never held again for the same reason. Your place in search comes back with it, under the same rules as any other page.
What keeps working
The sites your links go to are never touched, and a link you’ve put anywhere else keeps working. This is about your Portage address.
| If | Your visitors | You |
|---|---|---|
| Someone reported your page | Everything keeps working while a person looks and for the three days you have to fix anything. | Edit and publish as usual. |
| One link is off or one thing is hidden | That one thing is gone from your page. Every other link works, and your page stays in search. | Change its address or picture and it’s yours again. Taking it off also works. |
| Your page is held or paused | Anyone else who opens your address sees a not found page, so none of your links can be followed from it, including locked links, your 18+ section and your uploaded files. A QR code or a connected domain leads to the same place. Your page is out of search until it’s back. | Edit, publish and export. A held page goes public by itself once a person says yes. |
| Your page is taken down | The same not found page, straight away, and out of search. Your handle stays held and nobody else can take it. | Sign in and export. You can’t publish over it, and helpers lose access to it. |
You can export your page while it’s held, paused or taken down, from your editor’s Settings: your page as a website, a zip of plain HTML, CSS and your own pictures that opens from its folder and can go on any host, or as JSON, which holds your words, links and settings with your pictures as addresses. Your numbers and email list come as CSV from your numbers page.
No surprise charges
Nothing renews by itself
An extra pays for one year, and then it ends. Another year starts only if you pay for it again. If you tick the box when you pay, we email you before the year ends, and without the tick we don’t.
No card on file
Portage is paid from your own bank, by Interac e-Transfer in Canada and by bank transfer everywhere else. No card number is typed here, so we hold none, and no company holds one for us.
30 days to change your mind
Digital extras can be refunded in full within 30 days of paying, for any reason. A check that doesn’t pass is refunded whenever that happens. Goods from the shop are made to order and follow their own rules.
If you have an older subscription
Anything bought earlier through Polar or Stripe, or as a subscription in one of the studio’s apps, can renew until it’s stopped. Write to hello@cadenic.studio and we’ll help you stop it. A Polar or Stripe renewal can be refunded in full within 30 days of it.
Every page feature stays free
Every page feature is free for everyone. You only pay if you want an identity or business check, Unmarked to take the Portage credit off a business page, your page on a domain you already own, custom work from the studio, or, if you look after more than 5 clients’ pages, the Agency plan. One organisation running 10 or more pages of its own can choose Enterprise. No feature you’re using today will become paid.
18+ creators
Welcome here, under the same rules as everyone else, with the same appeals.
You’re welcome
If you make adult content and sell it somewhere built for it, your page can link to all of it, in its 18+ section. No rule that holds a page reads a word about sex, bodies, tips or prices.
Nothing explicit on Portage
No pornographic content on any page, in pictures, video, files or words. Link to where it lives. Taking payment or tips for adult content through Portage isn’t allowed either; the platforms you link to handle that.
No in-person services
Offering, advertising or arranging in-person sexual services isn’t allowed, and a page that does comes down.
No cloaking
Every visitor and every search engine is sent the same page. Portage never shows a crawler or a reviewer one thing and people another, and has no feature for doing it.
Same rules, same appeals
An 18+ page is reported, held and appealed the way any other page is, read by a person who replies within three business days. That includes when you think we’ve made a mistake about someone’s age.
If you leave, or can’t stay
Take everything with you
Your page as a website that runs anywhere, or as JSON, from the editor, and your numbers and email list as CSV from your numbers page, whenever you like.
Delete your account
If you delete your account, we keep your page, its versions and your uploads out of sight for 30 days, so we can bring them back if it was a mistake: email hello@cadenic.studio from the address you signed in with and ask. Nobody sees them in that time, and after 30 days they’re deleted. Apart from the payment records described below, your numbers, your email list and the rest go straight away, and a paid mark or Unmarked doesn’t come back by itself.
If you can’t look after your page
You can name one person you trust to take over if you lose access or die: if they ask, we email you right away and you have 14 days to refuse, nobody can shorten that, and if nobody refuses they can edit your page, but they never get your money, your identity mark or your account.
A page taken down after a report
This one is different. We keep it out of sight for a year, because the law can require us to hand it over.
The counts, each quarter
Once a finished quarter has at least 20 reports and holds between them, its counts appear here by themselves, from Portage’s own records. A count under 5 shows as “Fewer than 5”, so nobody can be picked out from it. An appeal is upheld when a person changed the decision.
What people ask
Will one report take my page down?
Is a bot going to decide about my page?
Do my links keep working if my page is held?
Can I get my page out while it’s held?
Will Portage charge me automatically?
Something about your page?
Write to a person. Say which page, and you’ll have a reply.
