Opening hours

Opening hours on your link in bio, and whether you’re open right now.

The question people look a shop up to answer is “are they open?” Your page answers it first, then says until when, or when you open next.

Free on every Portage page. Nothing to upgrade to.

The Kettle & Gull, an example pub, with its late nights and its quiz night. Open the page

A tattoo shop, a bike workshop and a potter.

Hours rows from three example pages, each in its own town and time zone. A Friday that runs late gets its own note.

  • A tattoo shop in Halifax, from Copper Swallow Tattoo
  • A bike workshop open late on Fridays, from Dunbar Cycles
  • A pottery studio and its shop, from Riverbend Pottery

What the hours say.

  • Open, or when you open next

“Open now, until 11 PM”, or “Closed. Opens Wednesday at 12 PM”, worked out at the moment someone looks.

  • Your clock, said plainly

Your hours are shown as your own, with your time zone named under them, so a visitor from away reads the time on your door, not a sum.

  • Days off without a rewrite

Close a single day, or a stretch for a holiday, and your usual week stays as it is. The page says you’re closed and when you’re back.

  • How to get there

Add your address and visitors pick Apple Maps, Google Maps or OpenStreetMap for directions from wherever they are.

Where hours need a hand.

  • A day with shorter hours, like Christmas Eve, isn’t a setting. Close that day, or say so in a Right now line at the top of your page.
  • We don’t read your hours from a map listing. You type them here, and keep both in step yourself.
  • One set of hours per row. A second shop is a second row, with its own address.

Putting your hours up.

Start a page with your hours

  1. Add a Schedule row set to opening hours.

Choose Opening hours at the top. The editor suggests your time zone.

  2. Type your week.

A day, an opening time and a closing time for each, with a note like “Quiz night” if you want one. A close after midnight is fine.

  3. Add your address and days off.

The address brings the directions buttons. Mark holidays as they come, and they clear themselves once they’re past.

Questions about opening hours.

Does it show my hours in a visitor’s time zone?
No, on purpose. A shop’s hours belong to the shop, so they’re shown in your time zone with its name beside them. Only the open or closed line is worked out for the moment the visitor looks.
Can I close for a holiday without changing my hours?
Yes. Mark a single day, or a stretch from one date to another, and your page says you’re closed and when you open again. The rest of your week doesn’t change.
Can search engines read my opening hours?
Yes. They’re in the page as words and in its structured data, with your days off marked as closed, which is the way search engines ask for them.
What if I’m open past midnight?
Type the closing time as it is, like 1 AM on a Friday, and the page counts it as part of Friday night.

Answer “are you open?” before they ask.

Type your week once, and your page keeps saying it right.
