Your link on Threads

How to put your link in bio on Threads.

Threads lets you add up to 5 links to your bio, on the app or on the web, and they’re kept apart from your Instagram links. Put your Portage page first, with ?via=threads on the end.

What Threads allows

What Threads allows for links today

  • You can add up to 5 links to your Threads bio, since May 2025.[1]
  • They can be added on the phone app or on the web.[2]
  • Your Threads profile is its own: changes on Threads only affect Threads, and changes on Instagram only reach Threads if you import them.[3]

Putting your Portage page on Threads

Your Portage page goes in your Threads bio links, first in the list.

  1. Publish your Portage page, then copy its address. In the editor, Share links has it ready with ?via=threads on the end.
  2. In Threads, go to your profile and tap Edit profile, then Link.
  3. Tap Add link, paste your address, add a title if you like, and tap Done.
  4. Your Instagram links don’t change, so add it there too if you want it in both places.

See which visits came from Threads

Add ?via=threads to the address you put on Threads, and those visits show in your numbers as your Threads link, apart from every other place your page is shared.

portage.camp/@yourname?via=threads
  • In the editor, open Share links. Once Threads is one of the profiles on your page, there’s a button that copies this address for you.
  • For a second spot on the same app, type your own word in the “Somewhere else” box, like one word for each video or post, and each shows up on its own line.
  • The word only names where a visit came from. Nobody’s identity is in it, and Portage counts visits without cookies.

How the numbers work

If Threads says a link may be unsafe

Threads’ help pages don’t describe a warning for profile links. Instagram, which Meta also runs, says it shows a pop-up before a bio link that may be suspicious opens, so the same steps are worth taking.

  1. Check the address you pasted.Open it yourself in a private window. A typo, an extra space or a shortened link in front of it can trip a warning, so use your page’s own portage.camp address with nothing in front of it.
  2. Look at every link on your page.A warning can come from what your page links to, not just from your page. Open each link and take out or replace any that goes somewhere you don’t trust, or that now goes somewhere new.
  3. Look up the address with Google.Search for Google’s “Safe Browsing site status” and paste in your page’s address. It says whether Google lists the address as unsafe, which rules one common list in or out.
  4. Keep the address plain.Meta’s rules count misleading links and deceptive redirects as spam, so paste your page’s own address, not a shortened link or a redirect in front of it.
  5. Tell us.If the warning is about portage.camp itself, report it as a bug from the link at the foot of any Portage page, with the app’s name and what it said. We’ll look into it and take it up with the app.

What people ask

Does my Instagram link show on Threads?

Only if you import it. Threads’ help says changes on Threads only affect Threads, and changes on Instagram reach Threads only when you import them, so add your Portage page in both places.

Is a Portage page free to use on Threads?

Yes. Every page feature is free for everyone, including stats, scheduled links, email sign-ups and every theme. There’s no trial, and you never need a card to make or keep your page.

Will ?via=threads change where my link goes?

No. It opens the same page. The word only tells your numbers which link the visit came from, so you can see what Threads sends you.
