Your link on YouTube
How to put your link in bio on YouTube.
YouTube lets a channel show up to 14 links, and the first one sits near the Subscribe button, so that’s the place for your Portage page. Links in Shorts descriptions and comments can’t be tapped.

What YouTube allows for links today
- A channel can show up to 14 links. The first sits near the Subscribe button, and the rest are behind a line that opens them.[1]
- Links in Shorts descriptions and Shorts comments stopped being clickable from 31 August 2023.[2]
- YouTube’s help still says links in Shorts descriptions and comments can’t be tapped.[3]
- A Short can send viewers to another of your videos with a related video link, which needs your channel’s advanced features.[4]
- Links in the descriptions and comments of longer videos need advanced features turned on too.[3]
- Every link has to follow YouTube’s external links policy.[5]
Checked on . Apps change their rules, so open the sources if something on your screen looks different.

Putting your Portage page on YouTube
Your Portage page goes first in your channel’s links, where it shows near Subscribe.
- Publish your Portage page, then copy its address. In the editor, Share links has it ready with ?via=yt on the end.
- In YouTube Studio, open Customization, then Profile.
- Under Links, choose Add link, give it a title and paste your address.
- Drag it to the top of the list so it’s the one near Subscribe, then Publish.
See which visits came from YouTube
Add ?via=yt to the address you put on YouTube, and those visits show in your numbers as your YouTube link, apart from every other place your page is shared.
portage.camp/@yourname?via=yt- In the editor, open Share links. Once YouTube is one of the profiles on your page, there’s a button that copies this address for you.
- For a second spot on the same app, type your own word in the “Somewhere else” box, like one word for each video or post, and each shows up on its own line.
- The word only names where a visit came from. Nobody’s identity is in it, and Portage counts visits without cookies.
If YouTube says a link may be unsafe
YouTube’s help pages don’t describe a warning screen for channel links. They do say every link has to follow the external links policy, which is the place to start if a link is taken down.
- Check the address you pasted.Open it yourself in a private window. A typo, an extra space or a shortened link in front of it can trip a warning, so use your page’s own portage.camp address with nothing in front of it.
- Look at every link on your page.A warning can come from what your page links to, not just from your page. Open each link and take out or replace any that goes somewhere you don’t trust, or that now goes somewhere new.
- Look up the address with Google.Search for Google’s “Safe Browsing site status” and paste in your page’s address. It says whether Google lists the address as unsafe, which rules one common list in or out.
- Read YouTube’s external links policy. It lists the kinds of sites a channel can’t link to. If your page links to one of them, take that link off and add your Portage page again.
- Tell us.If the warning is about portage.camp itself, report it as a bug from the link at the foot of any Portage page, with the app’s name and what it said. We’ll look into it and take it up with the app.
What people ask
Can I put a link in a YouTube Short?
Not one people can tap. YouTube’s help says links in Shorts descriptions and comments aren’t clickable. Point viewers to the link on your channel instead, and use a related video link to send them to a longer video.
Is a Portage page free to use on YouTube?
Yes. Every page feature is free for everyone, including stats, scheduled links, email sign-ups and every theme. There’s no trial, and you never need a card to make or keep your page.
Will ?via=yt change where my link goes?
No. It opens the same page. The word only tells your numbers which link the visit came from, so you can see what YouTube sends you.
On another app: TikTok, Instagram, Threads, Bluesky, Twitch.
