Moving from Carrd

Move from Carrd to Portage.

Paste your Carrd address and we’ll rebuild it on Portage for you to look over. Nothing goes public until you publish.

An example page before and after moving to Portage. Before, it’s a plain grey list of four links. After, it has a lake scene at the top and coloured buttons.

A made-up page, before and after the move. You see yours rebuilt before we ask for your email.

Step by step

We read your Carrd page once, from its address, when you ask us to. It usually takes a second or two.

On a phone

  2. Paste it at the foot of this page and see it rebuilt.Tap Bring my page over. We read your page once and show it rebuilt on Portage in a few seconds, before we ask for your email.
  3. Keep it with your email.Pick a handle (if the one in your old address is free, we’ll offer it), enter your email and open the link we send, or type the code in it. There’s no password.
  4. Look it over, then publish. You’ll see everything we found, each with a tick. Untick anything you don’t want, choose a look, and add it to your page. Nothing goes public until you publish.

If the read doesn’t find your links, the review offers two other ways: a copy of the page saved from your browser, or a list you paste in.

What comes over

Comes with you

  • Your name, your bio and your profile picture
  • Your links, in the order you had them, with their section headings
  • The small pictures beside your links
  • Your old page’s colours and font, when we can read them, offered as the first look to pick
  • Your social profiles, as a row of icons

May stay behind

  • Your old stats and any sign-up list your old service kept for you. Download those there before you close it.
  • Tools that only work on the old service, like its own checkout or booking calendar. The links to them come over.

Worth a look when your Carrd page arrives

  • Check each link’s title. A link that was only an icon on your Carrd may arrive named after the site it goes to.

What gets better on the way

While we rebuild your page, we look at the links you had and suggest what could work better. You choose, and nothing changes unless you tick it.

  • A live badge

A link to your Twitch or Kick channel can show a live badge while you’re streaming.

  • Players on the page

YouTube, Spotify, SoundCloud and Vimeo links can play right on your page, so nobody has to leave it.

  • Your own email list

A newsletter link can become a sign-up box, and you can download the addresses whenever you want.

  • Files that stay put

A link to a PDF can become a file kept with your page, so it doesn’t break if the old one moves.

  • Codes with a copy button

A discount code gets a button that copies it, so people don’t have to type it out.

  • No cookie banner

Your page doesn’t use cookies, so there’s nothing for visitors to accept.

Bring your Carrd page over

Paste your address and see it rebuilt in seconds, before we ask for your email.

Only bring over a page you run. Sending it tells us it’s yours.
